Reality had no gears, and you never knew what surprises would come spinning out of its chaos

Even bruised and bloody, he had an odd sort of swagger, as if he crash-landed in giant airships every day.

Leviathan Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6050678-leviathan

Three reasons why you should try this steampunk trilogy:
Alternate WWI with high flying action
Awesome genetic engineering and steampowered tech
A crossdressing Scottish protagonist that…well you have to read it.

BONUS: Like a real 1900s novel it has illustrations in every chapter by the marvelous Keith Thompson.

READ IT. LOVE IT. FEEL THE FEELS. SHIP THE SHIPS.

Seriously though, these books are wonderful and you really, really should read them. Especially if you like adventurous books featuring airship-serving, cross-dressing, swaggering female Scottish protagonists and chivalrous, walker-piloting, barking-complicated Austrian princes.

“She wanted to make a speech: ‘Hey, all you sods, I can fly and you can’t! A natural airman, in case you haven’t noticed. And in conclusion, I’d like to add that I’m a girl and you can all get stuffed!’ ” -Deryn Sharp, Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Sometimes the facts in my head get bored and decide to take a walk in my mouth. Frequently this is a bad thing.
